Fall Work Weekend Registration Now Open

FALL WORK WEEKEND: OCTOBER 25 – 27 2019

Please join us for a great weekend with fellow Hi-Rockers. We’ll be getting camp ready for winter, tackling some important camp improvement projects and enjoying catching up with Hi-Rock friends. We’ll have jobs for all skill levels. Accommodations and meals will be provided. Children who would like to join us must be accompanied by a parent or other supervising adult. Volunteers are welcome for all or part of the weekend. Meals served will include Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. Work projects will conclude Sunday morning by noon. Housing with heat is limited and it may be chilly so please register online. Once the housing with heat is full we won’t be able to accept any overnight volunteers.

We’ll do our best to have some indoor projects but there will surely be work to do outside. Please bring warm clothes. We promise to have lots of tea, hot chocolate and cider!

Alumni Reunion 2019 Registration

We are excited to announce that registration for the Alumni Reunion is open!

The Alumni Reunion will take place August 30 – September 2, 2019.

We would love to see our alumni from near and far at our home away from home for this exciting weekend!

All alumni are welcome, come alone or bring the family. Attendees under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

This year we have implemented a tiered pricing system for the reunion.

Camp For All – Our YMCA understands everyone has different abilities to pay for camp events. We are committed to making Hi-Rock programs available to all. We have adopted a 4-tier pricing program for the reunion. Please consider the tier descriptions below and choose the tier that is most suitable for you. No proof of financial need is required for tiers 1 – 3. Your selection is confidential and will not affect your experience at camp in any way.

Tier 1 – Most accurately reflects the true cost of camp events including, but not limited to, general overhead, equipment and facility maintenance, capital improvements and staffing.

Tier 2 – Reflects the basic cost of attending camp including food, staff, program supplies and limited maintenance expenses.

Tier 3 – Is a more significantly subsidized rate for those who would not otherwise be able to attend camp.

Tier 4 – Is offered to families with demonstrated need who qualify for financial assistance through our Campership Program.

Registration Fees: The rates below include lodging, all meals for each day (meals available: Friday dinner – Monday Breakfast) and all activities except for water skiing which will be paid for at camp at $15 per run. All registrations must include a $75 deposit. Balance due by August 30, 2019. Financial aid applications available upon request email camperservice@camphirock.org.

Current Fundraising Efforts

Capital Improvement Campaign for Facility Director Cabin

There is one role at Hi-Rock which plays a critical role in making Hi-Rock possible. That is the role of facility director. Many fine individuals have taken on that role and given years to keeping the place so many of us love operating. With limited resources and eighty-three buildings, one thousand acres, four miles of dirt roads, multiple vehicles, boats and docks, countless pieces of equipment and a wastewater treatment plant, there is a lot to keep operating and a lot of knowledge and dedication involved in doing so. Part of that dedication involves living on camp year-round and being on-call day and night in a cabin provided by Hi-Rock.

After years of placing our facility director’s cabin below other maintenance and capital investment priorities, we have reached a point where we cannot wait any longer. The building where we house our facility director has been determined to be beyond repair and we are working to rebuild it before the 2019 summer season. To make this possible, we need the help of the Hi-Rock community. Please consider contributing toward this project to help us build a comfortable and safe space for our facility director (and future facility directors who will take on this role for years to come) to call his home.

Introducing our newest year-round staff member!

We are excited to announce the newest addition to our year-round team, Kory Stratton.

Kory will be joining us as our year-round Operations Coordinator in January!

Kory is currently pursuing a degree in Leadership and Communications as well as a minor in Outdoor Leadership at Great Lakes University. Kory is a Michigan native, but has been calling Hi-Rock his home away from home since the summer of 2017 when he was the Challenge Course Director. Kory is very excited to start his new position as part of Hi-Rock’s leadership team. When he’s not working, you can usually find Kory rock climbing or eating sushi.
